This special English edition of the journal "bildung für europa" provides an overview of the most important initiatives in Europa with regard to vocational education and training (VET): What is the idea of an alliance for apprentices? What were the objectives behind the Berlin Memorandum and what are the challenges countries like Italy face? 

In an interview with Federal Mininister of Education Professor Dr. Johanna Wanka we talked about the impetuses Germany can provide for European cooperation and how the Federal Government intends to support trainee mobility.

The publication tries to make visible how the Lifelong Learning Programme supports national reform policy. It also outlines the special role fo the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) and points out why the social partners in Germany support the dual VET system.

The edition includes the CD-ROM "Vocational Education and Training in Germany: Assuring the Future" published by BIBB.
