At the invitation of the BMBF program Nachhaltig im Beruf (NIB) and the National Coordination Office of the European Agenda for Adult Learning, around 150 experts gathered in Bonn to discuss the role of continuing vocational education and training in transformation.
The conference focused on the question of how continuing vocational education and training can contribute to the sustainable transformation of the economy and the world of work. Innovative ideas were presented and successful practical examples from Germany and Europe were showcased. At the same time, the event offered developers, providers, and users of sustainability-oriented continuing education and training opportunities to network.
„The best way to predict the future is to shape it yourself.“
First, however, the challenges and needs from the perspective of continuing education providers and companies were examined. Petra Densborn, Chair of the German Continuing Education Day (DWT), emphasized the importance of credible sustainability strategies in continuing education, while Gisbert Braun, Head of the Sustainability Department at the nature network, pointed out that sustainability must be integrated into companies as an overall strategic concept.
